Just got back from Lisbon, after a week-end in the city and the festival. Sure the setlist is Greatest Hits, sure it was short, but it was one of the most fun and good spirits I have seen from the band.
After 11 dates on the last Euro tour, I was afraid to be burnt out on PJ, and even if the setlist only had songs I have seen at least 4 times, I had a blast: the place was gorgeous, between the ocean and the hills with houses on it, saw the Sun go down behind the main stage. The Portuguese fans are great: I was rather far from stage, but every one was singing, clapping, no pushing. People were singing at the very beginning of the Daughter tag, at the start of the solo for Black. They sang "I'm still Alive" during the Encore Break ! It had a really cool and innocent vibe. And the band was in good spirits: Mike still running around, Stone in duck mode with the beard and the fisherman hat ! Sure there was no rarity or unexpected cover, but they played very well. For me, highlights were Animal, and the solos of Even Flow and Crazy Mary. It's been a while I had enjoyed Mike's solos that much, I thought his tone was better than last year. However, I was surprised to hear Alive and RVM to close the main set and the first encore, a small change none the less !
I had no real expectations for this show (unlike 2006 where I was looking for hearing most different songs), I was there to discover a new city and enjoy the day. And I sure did. And it was worth staying for Yellow Ledbetter missing the last train to Cascais (show ended at 1:40am, saw my train leave at 1:45am, I had to wait until 6am to catch the next one...).
Can't wait for Munich, London and Werchter.

No inicio está um bocado tremido!! Muito altos e baixos!! Mas depois acertam e o som está até com uma qualidade bem razoavel!!

fikem bem
TFT Notes: Audio and video of the first three songs of this concert were broadcast over the internet; albeit with poor quality. The band appear in front of a backdrop of the "surfboard Pearl Jam logo" and a big wave. This festival is played at a large venue along the ocean, paralled by residential hillside, with the sun setting behind the stage. The "Daughter" tag has Ed singing "the shades go up" while the crowd sings "the shades go down". Also, Ed sings two lines of (presumably) Elton John's "Don't let the sun go down on me".
