He said that the intro can't be played like it is on the record. I said they should have the intro play on the PA as they walk on stage and then go in the song. He seemed to consider it. Not sure if it's a good idea or not though.
i feel weird talking about it cuz I know he values his privacy and it's a just a conversation between two people you know. But I can say that he was super nice and considerate. It was at the SNL post-party, I shook hands with everyone but Matt. They're all super nice and very chill. I told Ed I was going to Hartford and I'd love to see them jam with MMJ. He seemed to make a mental note of it. I gave him a hug and he had me swing from his wine bottle, I mentioned crazy mary of course. It was very warming and inspiring to be in the band's presence. They're really good guys, you can tell by the way they are around people.
It was pretty funny. I told him straight up I had heard the album and he slapped me on the cheek, in a friendly kind of way. I said I had been to 20 shows and everything, and actually deleted the new songs now (which I did) and he was like "ah, ok then" and slapped me again on the cheek but not as hard as the first time, more like a tap.
on a side note, I talked to Mike and said I got left out of the NJ shows cuz i was holding out for some MSG dates. He said they had tried to make MSG work but it fell through.
It was really inspiring to be with in their presence. It's like what you believe in really truly exists you know. It has a mystical quality to it and it's very reassuring in a way.
