Gibson Custom is proud to announce the limited release of the Mike McCready 1959 Les Paul #9 1910, a precise replica of the Pearl Jam guitarist’s original that he tours and records with today.

When Pearl Jam exploded out of Seattle in the early 1990’s, their aggressive, guitar-fueled tone not only helped revive rock and roll, it did something that only truly great bands do; it created a sub-genre of music. Dubbed “grunge”, Pearl Jam’s unique take on rock launched a legacy that exists today with as much of a following today as it did twenty years ago. Mike McCready’s sound and style lives at the heart of Pearl Jam’s instantly recognizable tone. His original 1959 Les Paul is a critical component to that sound. If it isn’t rare enough that an original 1959 Les Paul is still in active use, add to it that it’s the second go-round for serial #9 1910 in the orbit of genre-changing music. Mike’s original was also owned by Jim Anderson, the last guitarist in Van Morrison’s band Them who purchased it from a Pawn Shop while on tour in Seattle sometime between 1967-69. When you read through the attached sales sheet you’ll learn how miraculous it is that the guitar is still in existence, let alone in the hands of Pearl Jam’s lead guitarist. This is an incredible guitar in its tone, playability, and in its history. In Mike’s words: “I picked it up, played for a few seconds, and said ‘Yeah, this is the one’. It just felt right in my hands. I’ve used it on four or five albums since and take it on every tour.”

The limited edition Mike McCready 1959 Les Paul is the result of a close collaboration between Gibson Custom’s craftspeople, engineers, and Mike McCready, whose ‘hands-on attention to detail approach’ insures an incredible guitar that any player will be proud to have in their collection. Offered in True Historic specifications, the Mike McCready 1959 Les Paul Standard is available on a limited basis with qualifying materials ultimately determining the size of the run.

Avec le temps je pensais que l'on verrait un modèle signature McCready chez Fender, vu son attachement à sa Strat de 59 et sa présence sur Even Flow ou Black.

Je suis moins convaincu par sa sonorité Les Paul, même si j'ai acheté une version Special jaune à double échancure après l'avoir vu jouer sur un modèle similaire pour le tour Euro 2006.
