He checked in and gave a shout out to Olivia who was in the car on her way to gymnastics.
There wasn't much talk about the album or the tour. Oh, they asked if WWS was about Iraq and Ed just answered that the lyrics are thoughts of his, thrown out there. He takes the words, but the others come in with their parts and it does what music is supposed to - transend the "point" and becomes something of itself.
As a response to a question about all of the critics raving about this album - he said they took their time and made decisions together.
As stated - one of the DJ's talked about the Gorge being the best show he's ever attended and Ed said that it was fun and they were doing some shows with Petty this summer.
BJ began to talk about how some don't want to go to PJ shows due to the political stuff etc. so he wanted to give Ed a place to get some of that stuff out on the radio. So they had a really respectful exchange about the hurricane, capitalism, Iraq (Ed had just finished reading the NY times article about the generals criticizing Rummy), nature, gas prices, oil companies and profits, Bush possibly being maniacal and the US needing to slap out leaders back into shape (this comment was book ended by Ed talking about the documents which this country was founded on), Ed cleaning out mentally after 4 or 5 years of some pretty intense living, this lead to the discussion about a Shamanistic ritual that BJ had been through and recommended to Ed.
At the end, Ed said that Bj might be one of the best guys in radio. I think he said this because they had an honest exchange of ideas void of the rock0n-roll drivel filled interviews that are the norm.
Yes, there was one dj that kept talking about shrooms and being high. It got old quick.

He said something like he needed to clean out his system before he tried that thing in Peru...as I said earlier, it could mean prescription drugs or any number of other things...he did not mention drugs per se...
