Regina teacher amazed with Pearl Jam singing stint

A Regina school teacher says it was a dream come true when he got to sing with Pearl Jam in front of thousands of screaming fans.

Brian Nenson was attending the rock band's concert in Saskatoon on Monday night when during the second encore, he was pulled on stage to help perform a cover of The Guess Who's classic hit Running Back to Saskatoon.

"It was truly, truly amazing. Surreal. I think everybody kind of dreams about things like that," Nenson told CBC News on Tuesday.

But there was one hitch: "I really didn't even know the words," Nenson conceded, but he added that Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder conveniently had the lyrics written on a sheet of paper.

"He [Vedder] actually had obviously planned on doing that song in particular, so he had the actual lyrics up there," he said.

"So once I saw the words, then I just laughed and thought, 'Oh, OK, now I can fake my way through it.' So that's what I did."

Nenson's performance alongside Vedder was recorded and posted on YouTube. He said he cannot help but relive the moment.

"I've watched it on YouTube about 40 times," he said with a laugh.
