Scott to performed free show the 8th september

Here's the set list for the solo show Scott performed at Legends of Notre Dame: Barbarella, The Man I Didn't Know, Killing Me Sweetly, Desert Skies, Wish You Were Here, Interstate Love Song and Beautiful Day. It was the first time Scott performed his new solo songs 'Killing Me Sweetly' and 'Beautiful Day' live. It was also the first time he covered the Marshall Tucker Band cover 'Desert Skies'.

Here's Kevin's review of the performance:

"There were probably about 200 people at the club, which meant that it was pretty full (it's a very small club). It was just Scott and a guy on the guitar (Beautiful Day on the piano), with some loops being played on a computer.

The show itself was phenomenal! Scott's voice sounded great, and he really had a passion for the music. He's also a very big Irish fan (his father played ND football), which made me happy, being a current student at Notre Dame. Scott dedicated Wish You Were Here to "his brother's best friend," Pat Tillman (the NFL player who was killed in Iraq). He also said that the last song, Beautiful Day, is going to be in a new movie called Bug starring Ashley Judd and Harry Connick, Jr. It was very trippy, but very cool in a weird way.

I took a couple pictures, so if I get those up online, I'll post a link here, if you're interested. Those of us who were lucky enough to be there witnessed a great, intimate show with one of rock's most eccentric frontmen, and I for one am looking forward to both the solo record and the new VR.

VELVET REVOLVER's WEILAND Recounts Drug Troubles: Video Available

VELVET REVOLVER singer Scott Weiland is among the entertainers featured in a series of recent online videos produced by the MusiCares organization. The clips were taped in honor of 2006's National Drug & Alcohol Addiction Recovery Month, which took place in September. Watch Weiland talk about his past battles with heroin addiction during his years fronting STONE TEMPLE PILOTS online at Grammy.com.

Though Rick Rubin was recently tied up with U2 in London, he's slated to work with both METALLICA and VELVET REVOLVER next, VR drummer Matt Sorum informed RollingStone.com last month during the Hard Rock Café’s 35th birthday extravaganza. "I think we're going to beat METALLICA to the studio 'cause we write songs faster than they do," he boasted.

The working title for the new VELVET REVOLVER disc remains "Libertad", although Sorum previously dismissed Weiland's statements that it will be a concept record.

"You know, Scott said something about a concept album," Sorum told ABC Radio's ePrep. "But you know, the concept is let's get it done, you know what I mean? (laughs)"

VELVET REVOLVER's 2004 debut, "Contraband", was certified double-platinum for sales in excess of two million copies in the United States.

Merci Samoa.

Scott Weiland shoots video for 'Happy'

On Sunday October 1, Scott and his solo band and crew holed up at Scott's Lavish Studios in Los Angeles to shoot a video for 'Happy', a song Scott co-wrote with Pharell Williams for his second solo album. 'Happy' will probably the lead single for Scott's upcoming album and he will shoot more footage in the near future. Check out Softdrive Records' Myspace page for photos of the shoot:
