Death Cab for Cutie’s classic album Transatlanticism will be reissued for its 10th anniversary after being out of print for years. Four sides of high-quality 180-gram vinyl in a nice gatefold sleeve, with a 12-page full-color booklet. Comes with a download of the album plus the newly released original demos, many of which are drastically different from the final versions.

On August 13, 2014, after 17 years as a member of Death Cab for Cutie, guitarist and songwriter Chris Walla decided to part ways with the band, with his last performance occurring on September 13, 2014 at the Rifflandia Music Festival in Victoria, British Columbia.[46] Walla states that he plans to "...continue making music, producing records, and erring on the side of benevolence and beauty whenever possible."[42] When asked in an interview about Walla's involvement in the eighth album, McGerr confirmed that Walla "played on everything and has been involved all the way through, even in the mixing. Even though he's played his last show with us, he's still been involved in everything involving this record."[43]

An October 2014 Rolling Stone interview with Gibbard revealed new songs entitled No Room In Frame, Black Sun, Beverly Drive and Good Help will feature alongside seven further tracks on the still to be named record.[47]

Kintsugi is the eighth studio album by indie rock band Death Cab for Cutie, scheduled to be released March 31, 2015, on Atlantic Records.

During the production of the album, lead guitarist and founding member Chris Walla announced that he was leaving the band, though he continued contributing to the recording and creative process until the album was complete.[1] Produced by Rich Costey, Kintsugi is the first Death Cab for Cutie album to feature an outside producer, as Walla had produced all previous releases by the band.[2]
