Dearest,

It’s all happening! I’m finally going into the studio to start recording my 2nd solo album next week. It’s going to be heads down ass up… I am very excited and nervous at the same time lol.
Been mucking around for quite a while now… trying out different aesthetics… methods… and beard-lengths… all in hope of a visit from the ‘genius’. One percent Inspiration and 99 percent perspiration lol.
I have put together a small team of very interesting and over competent musicians and the creative aural guidance of a man called Burke and we are going to scrawl through the hordes of mutters and murmurs I’ve recorded this year. It’s going to be fun and no doubt intense. But of course it’s not the journey but the destination when it comes to making a record LOL. So I look forward to having this thing done!
In the meantime i will post a photo for each day we are in the studio starting from November 1st. I’ll put them up on ze blog and ze facenbook.
You just gotta love ‘lol’ing aye… especially 50cent and Kanye’s use of it on twitter. It seems you can write almost anything you want and if you follow it up with a lol it comes across endearingly facetious. Right?

Promise i’ll never lol again.

Liam Finn kicks off first-ever full band tour at SxSW and announces first album in three years due this Spring.

Liam Finn has confirmed his first ever North American tour with a full band. Kicking off at SXSW Finn will play the Yep Roc and New Zealand showcases among other sets. From Austin, he'll head to Los Angeles March 23 to begin a month of headlining shows in the U.S. and Canada. See below for full dates.

Finn has spent much of the past year working on the follow-up to his debut I'll Be Lightning, [more info/order now] which will be released this spring on Yep Roc.

A New Zealand-native, Finn burst onto the American scene in 2008 with the release of I'll Be Lightning,, which earned him Artist to Watch accolades from The Wall Street Journal, Rolling Stone, Stereogum and more. Spin called it "a remarkable solo debut album of bittersweet indie pop," while Entertainment Weekly praised his "effervescent choruses [and] swooning harmonies."
