Progress on the new songs is going really great and to date we have eleven more or less finished plus another billion or so ideas to sift through. The plan (and as usual this will probably change!) is to keep reh/writing through April, quickly demo the tunes and then take our time recording it through May/June… that's as much as we know at the minute but rest assured the 3 of us are very excited about this material. The only other snippet of news is that we'll be producing the album ourselves so we can hopefully keep the recording as 'true' and as vibey as possible.
More info when we've got it…. take it easy…

Cool pour le nouvel (ancien ?) album !
Portishead: Third Could Be Our Final Album
Portishead’s Geoff Barrow has admitted that ‘Third’ could be the band’s final record.
The instrumentalist says that the album, released this week, is definitely their last on their current label home of Universal - and possibly their final one ever.
He tells BBC6music: “Perhaps it could be our last record but I hope not – everyone’s really happy and now we seem like we’ve broken through this wall that has been kind of like stopping us for making music for such a long time. We all feel it’s fairly good.”
Quizzed further as to whether they have any ideas for possible future material, Barrow explained that nothing is concrete.
“We’ve got some ideas of what we would like to do but they’re really just rough ideas.
“I mean – if we haven’t got a record deal we could put it out ourselves, we could go to a large indie that y’know really likes music.
“We haven’t talked to any body yet – we haven’t talked to Universal yet,” he said.

Social Distortion plan acoustic album for 2009
In a new interview with Spinner, Social Distortion's Mike Ness reveals some of the long-running bands plans for the coming years.
For 2009, Ness is aiming for an acoustic Social Distortion album saying:
I think it could be really, really neat. It's almost like a Bob Dylan/Bruce Springsteen/Johnny Cash kind of feel with a punk edge ... but acoustic. Sometimes [the songs] are more powerful stripped down than with full volume.
The record will include new acoustic renditions of older songs as well as new material. Ness promises that a more traditional Social D. album as well as another solo album are also in the works:
I don't know what will be first. It's hard to say. I'm kind of leaving the first part of next year open for writing and recording and whatever happens, happens.
Ness begins a solo tour May 2 at the Stagecoach Festival at the Empire Polo Grounds in Indio, Calif. The run lasts for three weeks. He has scheduled three more weeks in July and December.
