Josh Homme recently spoke to Zane Lowe on BBC Radio 1 about Queens of the Stone Age’s high anticipated sixth album, set for release in 2013. The album features Dave Grohl on drums, and guest appearances by Trent Reznor and Nick Oliveri. Homme had the following to say about recording the new album:

“There’s been a lot of struggles going on but I’ll spare you those gory details. So I think this record is a little more lyrically vulnerable but I also think that it’s musically sort of deeper and richer, it’s a little bit stranger. This record basically sounds like you’re running in a dream the whole time.”

Queens of the Stone Age’s last album was 2007′s Era Vulgaris, and Homme’s most recent album was Them Crooked Vultures’ self-titled debut in 2009.

bah non! cette interview qui date de l'an dernier n'a rien à voir avec le fait qu'il ne soit plus avec QOTSA pour le nouvel album:
il parle juste de son enchainement de tournée après la fin de celle avec QOTSA, il était dans l'avion avec Homme qui cherchait un batteur pour la tournée des Eagles of DM qui allait commencer, Castillo sentant qu'il allait lui demander au final mais il ne le faisait pas pour lui permettre de se reposer. ä l'arrivée il lui a demandé s'il pouvait juste faire le tour US de 2 semaines pour les dépanner mais les 2 semaines se sont transformées en 2ans...

Information à prendre vraiment avec des pincettes, ça vaut certainement rien du tout puisque venant de Wikipédia :

"Le 6 novembre 2012, le groupe révèle toujours via Facebook la présence de Dave Grohl officiant à la batterie pour ce nouvel opus, Joey Castillo quittant le groupe. Mark Lanegan has been confirmed to sing on the upcoming Queens of the Stone Age album. The official Facebook and Twitter sites for Queens of the Stone Age posted this yesterday:

Lanegan came by. He didn’t say much, but he sang good.

Previously, Lanegan had been rumored to have heard several songs from the upcoming Queens of the Stone album and written lyrics for the album. With the confirmation of Lanegan, the new album will feature all members of the original Songs for the Deaf lineup, which included Josh Homme, Nick Oliveri, Dave Grohl, as well as Mark Lanegan.

Elton John is the latest big name guest confirmed to appear on the new Queens Of The Stone Age album


The unlikely collaboration was revealed by Dave Grohl, who is also appearing on the forthcoming album as drummer, when he interviewed Sir Elton as part of his week covering chat show host Chelsea Lately on her late night talk show in America last night (February 6). During the interview, Grohl told the audience that "Recently, Elton and I recorded something together. Something that people wouldn't imagine the two of us doing together," before Elton revealed that it was a new song for the upcoming Queens Of The Stone Age album.

Revealing details of the recording session, Elton added: "I was in Vegas and I flew back to LA and Engelbert Humperdinck had written me a very sweet letter and asked me to sing a duet with him. He is part of my history and I couldn't say no so I went and recorded a song with him. Then I drove three blocks and went from Engelbert to Queens Of The Stone Age, which was a bit of a mindfuck."

Grohl, interjecting, said: "I remember you (Elton) walking in and him being, like, (lethargically) 'Have you got a ballad for me?' and we were just like, 'no, we do not have a ballad for you.'" Talking specifically about recording the song, Elton added: "After three hours we got it and he (Grohl) drummed on every take and every take was amazing. He's built like a brick shithouse when he drums."

Other guests confirmed to appear on the band's new album include Trent Reznor, Mark Lanegan, Nick Oliveri and Jake Shears of Scissor Sisters. The band will be playing a number of festivals this summer, including Benicàssim in Spain, and Download in the UK
